Kunst und Kultur sind kein Luxus, sondern die Grundlagen unserer Gesellschaft, indem sie diese zusammenhalten, hinterfragen und aushandeln.“
In my artistic practice, I examine global connections using local stories as examples. For me, artistic engagement begins with a precise analysis of a place, its history and its current use. Art and culture are not a luxury, but the foundations of our society, holding it together, questioning it and negotiating it.

Eva Susanne Schmidhuber ist bildende Künstlerin und hat Raumstrategien an der Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee und Kulturwissenschaft an der Humboldt- Universität zu Berlin studiert. Sie beschäftigt sich mit dem urbanen Raum und reflektiert gesellschaftliche Strukturen in Filmen, Fotografien, Zeichnungen und Skulpturen. Sie nutzt das Serendipitätsprinzip als künstlerische Strategie und setzt Partizipation und den (geplanten) Zufall als Widerstand gegen diskriminierende Machtstrukturen, Vorurteile und sichere Gewissheit ein. Ihre Technik basiert auf Bewegung als persönliche Kraft, die Sichtbares unsichtbar und Unsichtbares sichtbar macht – beispielsweise durch Visualisierungen von elektromagnetischen Wellen. Themenschwerpunkte sind Empowerment, Ökozid, Erinnerungskultur.
Eva Susanne Schmidhuber is a visual artist and has received a M. A. in art in context at the Berlin Art School Weißensee and a B. A. in cultural studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin. She deals with the urban space and reflects social structures in films, photographs, drawings and sculptures. She uses participation and the serendipity principle as an artistic strategy and sets the (planned) coincidence as resistance to discriminatory power structures, prejudices and certainty. Her technique is based on movement as personal power that makes the visible invisible and the invisible visible – for example through visualizations of electromagnetic waves. The main topics are empowerment, ecocide, culture of remembrance.
